Another shelter makeover update
We're in 7th place! That's INSANE! Awesome, but totally crazy. With this kind of momentum, I'm really hoping we can hold out in the top 20 for the next three weeks, and then I hope we make the cut for America to vote for us!
If you want to help (please), sign up at zootoo.com - select the Central Missouri Humane Society (ZIP 65201), but make sure you upload a profile picture (it can be of your pet, a flower, water...I don't really care). You've got to have a profile picture to be eligible to vote for the winner in the next round of the competition.
And like I said before, if you want to sign up, you can also let me send you a referral email which will get CMHS an extra 50 points! Just let me know.
Did I mention it's absolutely crazy we're in 7th place?

Update to the CMHS shelter makeover

The two teenage girls who started the campaign to win a makeover for the Central Missouri Humane Society were featured in the local paper again today! That's their picture above (from the Tribune's website) - how cute are they?! And further more, how awesome are they for doing so much to help out the shelter?!
As of this morning, CMHS is ranked #22. That's just TWO away from being in the top 20, where they have to remain until March 13. And to think they were ranked #859 at the beginning of this...crazy!
Please, please, please let me know if you'd like to sign up for the website and help out. They can use as many points as they can get, and by signing up through my referral, that's just a few more points (50/person) to go towards getting them a makeover.
Our exciting news!
We've decided we're keeping Emma! After dancing around the subject for a month, we decided (after a bit of wine) on Valentine's Day that Miss Emmeline is officially joining our family. So we're officially a 3 dog, 2 cat, 5 fish, and (for now) 2 foster dog home.
Wow we're crazy.
Wow we're crazy.
Ringworm = hell in my house
Gil finally made it to the vet on Monday, and he's got an umbilical hernia and ringworm. Awesome. By awesome, I mean that sucks. A lot.
Fortunately, for whatever reason, we had been keeping him separate from the rest of the crew. Strange, because we never do that - maybe we just had a feeling?
Anyway, he gets a medicated bath twice a week for two weeks, and then once a week for two more weeks, plus a little cream applied to him twice daily.
The part that makes it even more fun - Emma has a little break out on her stomach, so I'm convinced the rest of the house is infested with ringworm too. So, all SIX other animals in my house (4 other dogs, 2 cats) will be getting baths that regularly too, just to be safe (I don't really think Emma has ringworm, but I'm being cautious). We had round one last night. Thank goodness Kyle helped. I couldn't have wrestled with the cats alone.
Not fun times in our house. :/

Emergency! (not so much)

There's a fire alarm going off in the dorm adjacent to my office. I didn't see flames or firetrucks, so I'm staying put.
Aaah - exciting times on a Friday.
Happy weekend friends! Enjoy Valentine's Day if you chose to celebrate it. If not, don't act all bitter and lonely. It's not becoming. You're better than that. And don't think I'm only saying that because I'm married. I've never been a huge fan of the over-commercialized Valentine's Day and how shitty it makes some women feel for no reason. If all else fails, I love you, and that's all that should matter. :)

Congrats Mazzie!!

That is Mazzie, formally known as Ch. Windbourne High Performance. She's the dog of one of my awesome nestie friends, and today she won Best of Breed (Black & Tan Coonhound) at the Westminster Dog Show. For those who don't know, that's kind of a gigantic deal.
She was on TV tonight for the Hound Group competition and had quite the fan club cheering her on across the country. Look at how beautiful she was. I apologize for the bad video - I took it with my camera from the TV.
And here is a link to her winning Best of Breed.
Congrats to Mazzie, Emily, and Seth! I know Scout was looking out for you all today! :)
