Deaf boxer's name is Emeline (or Emma for short), and in the two weeks we've had her, she's done incredibly well.
She's a smart cookie. Has hand signals down for a few commands. Knows she better have her butt planted on the ground if she's to get a treat. We're working on bell training when she needs to go to the bathroom. So far, so good.
She was spayed last week, and she recovered just fine from that. I was a little concerned with the amount she was urinating (I didn't know if it was her, or my lack of being around a big dogs long-term recently), so I took a sample into the vet, and she has some kind of mild bladder infection. She's on 3 weeks of medication to clear that all up.
It was a beautiful day here yesterday (62 in January is always welcome in my book), so I took Emma and Lizzi out to the dog park. Emma was in love with it! I took her to the farthest corner away from the gate and had her running around on a 30 foot lead. Once I realized she was pretty decent at coming back when signaled, and was content to stay close to Lizzi, I decided to be brave and let her have the full run of the park. She ran around for an hour and a half like a crazy woman! I think she was so excited to have a lot of dogs who were actually interested in playing rough with her (unlike what happens at our house). I cannot wait until the weather gets warmer so she can go more often. Wait...that's assuming we still have her when the weather is warm...
We also still have Colby. We're just shy of two months with him, which really, really surprises me. I really thought he'd have a home quickly. Hopefully soon. If you know of anyone who wants a slightly older, but still extremely spunky chihuahua mix, please let me know! :)

I want her!
Eisenheim and Emline, the dynamic deaf duo : )
I think since I can't have her, you need to keep her.
